Neuroimmunology focuses on conditions where the immune system attacks or affects the nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica (NMO), and autoimmune encephalitis. These diseases can cause inflammation, demyelination, and neurological dysfunction, leading to weakness, vision loss, or cognitive impairment.
Treatment at CNS-
•IVIG (Intravenous Immunoglobulin): Modulates the immune system to reduce inflammation.
•PLEX (Plasma Exchange): Removes harmful antibodies from the blood.
•Rituximab: A monoclonal antibody to suppress B-cell activity.
•Immunomodulators: Medications to regulate immune response and prevent relapses.
Stroke commonly known as Brain attack occurs when blood flow to the brain is disrupted, either by a blockage (ischemic stroke) or a burst blood vessel (hemorrhagic stroke), causing damage to brain cells resulting in various physical and psychological disabilities. It is a medical emergency requiring immediate attention to minimize complications and save lives. Thrombolysis in ischemic stroke- It involves using clot-dissolving medications, such as tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), to restore blood flow to the brain. Administered within a critical time window, typically 4.5 hours from symptom onset, it can significantly reduce brain damage and improve recovery outcomes. For all other types of strokes, dedicated stroke unit is there to monitor various aspects of stroke and to take care of risk factors, severity, complications, surgical interventions as well as rehabilitation .
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent, unprovoked seizures caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Seizures can vary in type and severity, ranging from brief lapses in awareness to severe convulsions. Here at CNS, we are well equipped to treat even refractory cases of epilepsy. We focus on diagnosing the root cause of seizure and then to decide the management plan which is cost effective as well as suitable for the patient’s long-term health and functionality .
Headaches include various types such as migraines, tension-type headaches, and cluster headaches. Chronic headaches may result from triggers like stress, dehydration, or neurological conditions, affecting daily life significantly. We are here for comprehensive evaluation of headache including the psychosocial aspect either as a cause or effect of headache. We offer advanced treatment options beyond conventional medications such as botulinum toxin or greater occipital nerve blockage when required to make the quality of life better.
Pain clinic address chronic and acute pain related to neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, such as migraines, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, and low back pain (LBA).
Treatment at CNS- Interventional Neurological Procedures
•Nerve Blocks-Greater occipital nerve block for migraines and neuralgia.
••Botox Injections-For chronic migraines and spasticity.
••Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)-For conditions like trigeminal neuralgia and radiculopathy.
•Epidural Steroid Injections-To relieve nerve inflammation in lumbar or cervical radiculopathy
Dementia is a broad term used to describe a range of cognitive disorders that cause memory loss and impairment in thinking, reasoning, and daily functioning.
Functional Neurological Disorders (FND) refer to a group of conditions where patients experience neurological symptoms that are not attributed to a known organic or structural neurological disorder.
Movement disorders are neurological conditions that affect the control and coordination of voluntary movements, often leading to involuntary tremors, stiffness, or abnormal postures. Common disorders include Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, tremors, ataxia, chorea, tics etc. The most difficult part is accurate diagnosis in cases of movement disorders. We go up-to genetic level when required for this. A comprehensive approach, combining medical care, physiotherapy, and personalized treatment plans including botox, is key in improving patient’s quality of life. Botulinum toxin (Botox) Injections- Used for focal dystonia such as cervical dystonia, hemifacial spasm, blepharospasm, writer’s cramp etc.
Neurocritical care involves managing life-threatening neurological conditions such as traumatic brain injury, severe stroke, and acute neuromuscular weakness, including Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), myasthenia gravis, or status epilepticus. This field emphasizes stabilizing critically ill patients and preventing further neurological damage. We are well-equipped with bedside EEG, multiparameter monitors, ventilators, and various other supportive measures, along with a dedicated neurointensivist team.
The Neuromuscular Unit focuses on diagnosing and managing disorders that affect the nerves, muscles, and the connection between them. These conditions often lead to muscle weakness, fatigue, and impaired mobility, significantly impacting a patient’s quality of life. Common neuromuscular disorders include Neuropathy, myopathy, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Myasthenia Gravis, and Guillain-Barré Syndrome. We have dedicated electrophysiology lab for accurate diagnosis using modalities such as NCS, EMG, RNST. We also do nerve and muscle biopsy, genetic study and autoimmune workup to clinch the diagnosis.
