Stroke commonly known as Brain attack occurs when blood flow to the brain is disrupted, either by a blockage (ischemic stroke) or a burst blood vessel (hemorrhagic stroke), causing damage to brain cells resulting in various physical and psychological disabilities. It is a medical emergency requiring immediate attention to minimize complications and save lives. Thrombolysis in ischemic stroke- It involves using clot-dissolving medications, such as tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), to restore blood flow to the brain. Administered within a critical time window, typically 4.5 hours from symptom onset, it can significantly reduce brain damage and improve recovery outcomes. For all other types of strokes, dedicated stroke unit is there to monitor various aspects of stroke and to take care of risk factors, severity, complications, surgical interventions as well as rehabilitation .
